Kitui South MP Dr Racheal Kaki Nyamai has joined President William Ruto and other leaders in Kabati and Matinyani, Kitui West Constituency, for the launch of key development projects aimed at improving living standards, creating jobs and expanding access to electricity.
The legislator participated in the groundbreaking ceremony for the Kabati Affordable Housing Project, an initiative expected to provide decent and affordable homes while opening up employment opportunities for local residents. The project is part of the government’s broader affordable housing programme, which seeks to address the housing deficit while stimulating economic activity in communities across the country.
The housing project is also expected to create employment opportunities for young people, particularly those seeking work in construction and related industries. Beyond the construction phase, increased economic activity could benefit local traders, suppliers and small businesses through demand for building materials, transport and other essential services.
In Matinyani, the leaders flagged off the Last Mile Electrification Programme targeting homesteads across Kitui West. The initiative seeks to extend electricity connections to more households, bringing communities closer to reliable power for domestic use, education and economic activities. For families that have long lived without electricity, the connections could improve their daily lives and create new opportunities for growth.
Dr Nyamai’s participation in the two events underscores the government’s focus on housing, energy access and economic empowerment as key pillars of development in the region. The projects are expected to support job creation, strengthen small businesses and improve household welfare, with residents looking forward to seeing the initiatives translate into tangible benefits for their communities.
