Kitui South MP Dr Racheal Kaki Nyamai on Monday accompanied President William Ruto to Mwingi North Constituency during his development tour of Kitui County, where the Head of State presided over the groundbreaking of the Tseikuru Technical Training Institute (TTI) students’ hostel and officially launched the KSh5.1 billion tarmacking of the Twimiwa–Tseikuru–Usueni Road.
The major infrastructure project is expected to open up the northern parts of Kitui County, improve transport connectivity and boost trade by making it easier for residents to move people, farm produce and other goods. The road is also expected to strengthen access to essential services and create new economic opportunities for communities that have for years endured transport challenges.
Speaking during the tour, Nyamai welcomed the President’s commitment to development in Kitui County, saying the road would significantly improve the lives of residents. She noted that the project, alongside the Tseikuru TTI students’ hostel, marked an important milestone in addressing longstanding development needs in the region.
“For decades, the people of Tseikuru have waited for this road. Today, through the KSh5.1 billion Twimiwa–Tseikuru–Usueni Road and the Tseikuru TTI Hostel, that dream is now a reality. This is the true meaning of equitable development — leaving no part of Kenya behind,” Nyamai stated, commending President Ruto for prioritising infrastructure and education in the region.
The President’s tour also included engagements with residents in Machinery, Makueni County, as he continued his development activities in the wider Ukambani region. Nyamai said the Tseikuru projects had placed the area firmly on Kenya’s development map, expressing optimism that the investments would accelerate economic growth, improve access to education and deliver lasting benefits to the people of northern Kitui.
