CPK Party to Support Kalonzo Musyoka in 2027, Party Leader MCA Nicholas Mutemi Announces

0

The Communist Party of Kenya (CPK) has officially announced its intention to work with Wiper Party leader H.E. Kalonzo Musyoka ahead of the 2027 General Election. The announcement was made by Hon. Nicholas Mutemi, the party leader and Member of County Assembly (MCA) for Kisasi Ward in Kitui County.

Speaking to the media, Hon. Mutemi said that CPK is ready to support Kalonzo’s presidential ambitions and will engage closely with him as the country heads into the next election cycle.

“Our party is committed to working closely with H.E. Kalonzo Musyoka in 2027. We believe in his leadership and his vision for the country,” said Mutemi.

Hon. Mutemi has also been instrumental in promoting cooperation between Wiper MCAs in the Kitui County Assembly and Governor Dr. Julius Malombe. Despite some internal disagreements within the Wiper Party, Mutemi has helped foster unity and dialogue between the Assembly and the executive.

His declaration signals growing political alignment in Ukambani as parties begin to position themselves ahead of the 2027 polls.

Augustus Kyalo Muli Shakes Up Ukambani Political Scene

The political tides in Ukambani are shifting, with Augustus Kyalo Muli rapidly emerging as a powerful and disruptive voice in the region’s political arena. Muli, the youthful and outspoken leader of the National Leadership Party (NLP), has in recent months positioned himself as a rising alternative to the long-standing dominance of the Wiper Democratic Movement and its leader, Kalonzo Musyoka.

A major turning point in Muli’s political ascent came after his unexpected yet decisive win in the IEBC Selection Panel Minority Party elections. In a contest that drew national attention, Muli defeated Wiper’s favored candidate, Dr. Koki Muli, in what many analysts are calling a major upset and a signal of deeper undercurrents reshaping Ukambani politics.

“The people are ready for new leadership, new ideas, and a new future,” said Muli during a press briefing in Kitui Town. “We are building a movement from the ground up that speaks to the real needs of our people.”

Indeed, the NLP has been making waves at the grassroots level. Recent membership drives, particularly in Kitui Central, have seen thousands of new registrants join the party—a clear sign of growing discontent with the region’s political establishment and mounting support for Muli’s reformist agenda.

Observers note that while Kalonzo Musyoka remains a towering figure in Ukambani politics, Muli’s rapid rise and bold challenges to the status quo suggest that a political realignment could be in the making.

Whether Muli will sustain his momentum remains to be seen, but one thing is clear: the Ukambani political stage is witnessing the emergence of a new player who is determined to reshape the rules of the game.

Kyalo Muli Urges Ukambani Leaders to Abandon Kingpin Politics and Embrace Government for Development

0

National Liberal Party (NLP) leader Hon. Augustus Kyalo Muli has made a passionate appeal to leaders from the Ukambani region to stop idolizing political kingpins and instead join hands with the national government to spur development in the region.

Speaking during a public function in Makueni, Muli called on Kenyans, particularly those from the Kamba community, to reject politics of personality cults and instead focus on partnerships that yield tangible benefits for the people.

“Stop worshipping kingpins who have nothing to offer our people. Let’s work with the government of the day for the development of our region,” said Muli, in what appeared to be a veiled jab at a prominent but unnamed Ukambani political figure whom he accused of positioning himself as the region’s “president” while refusing to cooperate with President William Ruto’s administration.

He blamed such political posturing for the region’s slow pace in development, stating that clinging to political isolation was hurting the aspirations of the Kamba people.

“The reason Ukambani is lagging behind is because there is an individual who wants to be worshipped as a king, yet he refuses to work with President William Ruto. That must stop,” Muli declared.

The NLP leader reiterated his party’s commitment to working with the Kenya Kwanza government to ensure that Ukambani is not sidelined in the national development agenda. He further urged President Ruto to consider appointing a Cabinet Secretary from Kitui County, saying the community deserves representation at the highest levels of government.

“The Kamba community is the fifth largest tribe in Kenya. We pay taxes like all other regions, and we deserve a fair share of development and representation,” he said.

Muli also announced that his party would welcome President Ruto warmly during his anticipated tour of Kitui County and encouraged other Kamba leaders to put aside personal political loyalties and focus on lobbying for development projects.

“It’s time we stop worshipping individuals and start focusing on real issues affecting our people. We must unite and work with the current government if we want to see meaningful change in our region,” Muli emphasized.

His remarks are likely to ignite fresh debate in Ukambani’s political landscape, where the question of whether to support or oppose the national leadership has long divided local leaders.

Kalonzo Cautions Wiper Gubernatorial Hopefuls: “Be Wary of Nicholas Mulila’s Rising Influence”

0

Nicholas Mulila’s bid for the Kitui gubernatorial seat is rapidly gaining ground, with Kitui West, Kitui South, and parts of Kitui East now being viewed as key pillars of his political strength. His growing influence is reportedly drawing the attention of Wiper Party insiders, including party leader and Azimio La Umoja principal, Kalonzo Musyoka.

Sources close to the opposition chief indicate that Kalonzo has privately cautioned top Wiper hopefuls to be vigilant of Mulila’s rising profile as they prepare to contest for the county’s top job in the 2027 general election. With Mulila’s name now frequently mentioned in political circles, his entry into the race has become impossible to ignore.

A high-ranking corporate executive and seasoned technocrat, Nicholas Mulila is seen as a fresh, pragmatic voice in Kitui politics. His grassroots mobilization, focus on community-driven development, and message of transformative leadership have struck a chord with residents across various wards, particularly in traditionally Wiper-dominated areas.

Political analysts observe that his steady rise is shifting local dynamics, positioning him as a formidable challenger to seasoned politicians eyeing the seat currently held by Governor Dr. Julius Makau Malombe.

“He’s not just another candidate—he’s a movement,” said a Kitui-based analyst. “Mulila is redefining the conversation around governance and development. He’s relatable, visionary, and strategic.”

As the county inches closer to another political transition, Nicholas Mulila’s campaign continues to gather momentum, signaling a possible reshaping of Kitui’s political terrain. His platform, anchored on accountability, youth empowerment, innovation, and inclusive development, is expected to dominate discussions in the coming months.

John Makau Receives Widespread Endorsement for Mwingi Central MP Seat Ahead of 2027 Elections

By TCD TEAM.
The race for Mwingi Central parliamentary seat is taking shape as decorated Certified Public Accountant (CPA) John Makau gains significant grassroots support. Residents from Kivou, Waita, Nguni, and Central wards have endorsed Makau, urging him to contest in the 2027 general elections.

Makau, a well-known professional and a close ally of Wiper Party leader H.E. Kalonzo Musyoka, has been steadily winning the confidence of the electorate. His growing influence has reportedly unsettled the incumbent MP, Hon. Gideon Mulyungi, who is facing mounting opposition from local leaders and constituents.

According to political analysts, Makau’s rising popularity stems from his reputation as a humble and development-oriented leader, in contrast to MP Mulyungi, who has been at odds with several key leaders in Kitui County. Among those Mulyungi has clashed with include Governor Julius Malombe, Kitui Women Representative Irene Kasalu, MPs Charles Nguna (Mwingi West), Paul Nzengu (Mwingi North), and Senator Enoch Wambua.

With the 2027 elections fast approaching, the battle for Mwingi Central is expected to intensify. Many residents believe that Makau’s leadership style aligns with their aspirations, and his growing support base could pose a serious challenge to the incumbent MP’s re-election bid.

Observers now wait to see if Makau will officially declare his candidacy and how the political landscape in Mwingi Central will evolve in the coming months.

The Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development in Kitui County continues to make notable progress in actualizing Governor Dr. Julius Makau Malombe’s 16-point sector manifesto, with visible impact on infrastructure, sanitation, and urban development across the county.

Kitui Municipality has emerged as a leader in promoting cleanliness and improved sanitation in public markets. Traders at Kalundu Market have praised the ministry’s efforts in transforming their working environment.

According to several small-scale traders, Kalundu Market is now cleaner, safer, and more conducive to business. This improvement is attributed to key projects such as the construction of modern public sanitation facilities, the drilling of water sources, and the installation of solar street lights that have extended trading hours and improved security.

Mueni Robert, a resident of Kaveta, expressed her gratitude to the county leadership, particularly CECM Frederick Kimanga and Chief Officer Evans Mutemi, for their commitment to delivering on Governor Malombe’s development promises. “The toilet facilities and access to water have improved our daily lives. We truly feel the impact of the county government’s work,” she said.

Timothy Munyoki, a watermelon vendor in the same market, applauded the recent erection of a perimeter wall around Kalundu Market. “This wall has made a huge difference in security and organization. We feel protected, and the market looks much better,” he noted.

In a related development, the Ministry has also been commended for its work in transforming Kyusyani Market under the “Dustless Town” initiative. On the same day, Yatta Kwa Vonza MCA praised the ongoing progress of the Kyusyani project, which aims to eliminate dust and enhance market infrastructure through paving and urban beautification.

“The transformation at Kyusyani Market is a game-changer for our people,” said the MCA. “Traders and residents can now operate in a cleaner, healthier environment—this is the kind of development we voted for.”

The leadership of Kitui Municipality has been at the forefront of implementing projects aligned with the county’s development agenda. With such impactful initiatives underway, residents remain optimistic that Governor Malombe’s vision for a modern, inclusive, and prosperous Kitui is steadily becoming a reality.

Kitui County, KIPRE Strengthen Partnership on Snakebite Management

0

Kitui, Kenya – May 27, 2025 — The County Government of Kitui has reaffirmed its commitment to tackling snakebite envenoming (SBE) through a strengthened partnership with the Kenya Institute of Primate Research (KIPRE). In a strategic meeting held Tuesday, senior county officials engaged with a delegation from KIPRE’s Board of Directors to align efforts in snakebite prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.

The discussions focused on scaling up Snakebite Envenoming (SBE) interventions, reviewing the Prior Informed Consent and Mutually Agreed Terms (PIC & MAT) agreement, and harmonizing these with the county’s broader health priorities.

KIPRE is currently facilitating a sensitization workshop for Community Health Promoters (CHPs), followed by hands-on clinical training for frontline healthcare workers on evidence-based snakebite diagnosis and management. Additionally, a Continuing Medical Education (CME) session is scheduled for Friday at Mwingi Level IV Hospital targeting all medical and clinical staff.

The KIPRE delegation was led by Prof. Johnson Kang’ethe, Chair of the Board’s Research Committee, and Director General and CEO Dr. Gichuhi Mwethera.

Governor Dr. Julius Malombe applauded KIPRE’s ongoing initiatives in Kitui and expressed his administration’s dedication to enhancing healthcare responses to snakebite incidents.

“Kitui County is a known hotspot for venomous snake populations, and our communities face significant risk,” Dr. Malombe said. “We are grateful for KIPRE’s support and remain committed to long-term solutions for snakebite prevention and care.”

The partnership aims to build local capacity, improve emergency response, and promote research-led strategies in managing snakebite-related health challenges.

Leaders of the Wiper Democratic Movement and the Democratic Action Party (DAP) have called for inclusive consultations before President William Ruto appoints the new chairperson and commissioners of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), citing the recently implemented NADCO report. In a formal communication addressed to the appointing authorities, Wiper party leader Hon. Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka and DAP leader Hon. Eugene Wamalwa emphasized that any attempt to appoint commissioners without genuine opposition involvement would compromise the integrity and impartiality of the electoral body. The leaders acknowledged the receipt of the report by the IEBC selection panel, which forwarded nine names for the appointment of six commissioners and two candidates for the chairperson’s position. They underscored the legal and political necessity of bipartisan consultations as per Paragraphs 861 and 862 of the NADCO report, which call for Kenya Kwanza and Azimio La Umoja to jointly concur on appointments to restore public confidence in the IEBC.However, the leaders pointed out that with the ODM party now cooperating with the Kenya Kwanza administration, the mantle of representing the opposition has effectively shifted to Wiper and DAP. “With ODM party leader Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga aligning with the ruling coalition, the legitimate voice of the opposition now rests with Wiper and DAP,” the statement read. They further demanded the release of an exit report by the IEBC selection panel to facilitate transparency and support consensus-building efforts. The two leaders warned that excluding opposition voices from the appointment process would amount to an attempt to create a partisan electoral commission.“Any process that sidelines the opposition, or limits participation to Kenya Kwanza and ODM, will not be acceptable. It would undermine the sovereignty of the Kenyan people and the democratic foundations laid since the post-2007 reforms,” they said.As the country awaits the final appointments, the leaders urged President Ruto to uphold constitutionalism, multi-party democracy, and the spirit of national unity envisioned in the NADCO process.ENDS?
