Corporate leader and CPA Nicholas Mulila on Saturday stepped up his grassroots engagement in Kitui, holding a series of meetings with ward-level leaders in Mutitu Kaliku and Voo/Kyamatu.
The meetings brought Mulila face-to-face with grassroots leaders as he continues to build relationships across the county ahead of the 2027 gubernatorial contest.
Discussions centred on the concerns facing local communities, development priorities and the kind of leadership residents would like to see in Kitui in the coming years.
Mulila’s growing engagement at the ward level comes as political activity begins to intensify ahead of the 2027 General Election, with several leaders positioning themselves to succeed Governor Dr Julius Malombe.
His supporters have been presenting him as a corporate leader with a clean leadership record and the experience needed to provide continuity in Kitui’s development agenda.
They argue that Mulila can build on the development gains achieved during Malombe’s tenure while introducing fresh ideas, particularly in areas such as economic empowerment, investment, employment and partnerships.
The Saturday meetings are part of Mulila’s wider grassroots outreach as he seeks to establish a strong countywide network ahead of the 2027 contest.
With the race for the governor’s seat expected to become increasingly competitive, grassroots engagements such as these are likely to play a key role in shaping the political conversation across Kitui.
