Kitui South MP Dr. Rachael Kaki Nyamai on Sunday hosted a UDA delegation in Kanziko Ward, where she led an empowerment programme targeting mama mbogas and welfare groups drawn from across the ward.
Speaking during the engagement, Nyamai said residents had demonstrated unity around what she described as development-oriented politics, while expressing support for President William Ruto and her bid to retain the Kitui South parliamentary seat for a fourth term. Kanziko is one of the six wards in Kitui South Constituency.
Nyamai, who is also UDA’s Kitui County Chairperson, said the empowerment initiative was aimed at supporting women, small traders and welfare groups at the grassroots. She highlighted what she described as government efforts targeting mama mbogas, youth, women and small businesses under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda. Her recent UDA grassroots engagements have similarly focused on economic empowerment and government development programmes.
The MP said the reception in Kanziko demonstrated that residents were focused on development and called for continued cooperation between leaders and communities. She thanked the people of Kanziko for what she described as their warm reception and support.
The delegation included Kitui East MP Nimrod Mbai, Mwingi West MP Charles Ngusya Nguna, Senator Beth Syengo, former CS Peninah Malonza, Joe Mutambu, John Kisangau, Martha Mati, State House officials Bonnie Musambi and Dr. Banda, gospel artist Stephen Kasolo Kitole and other leaders.
The engagement comes as political and grassroots activities continue to intensify across Kitui ahead of the 2027 General Election, with UDA leaders increasingly taking their economic empowerment message to different constituencies.
