The office of Yatta/Kwavonza MCA, Hon. Mark Nding’o, has officially handed over the Matulani Street Lighting Project to a contractor, marking the beginning of the installation of “mulika mwizi” lights at Matulani Shopping Centre in Nthongoni village. The handover was conducted through the MCA’s office staff as part of ongoing efforts to enhance security and improve public infrastructure in the area.
The project is expected to significantly boost safety for residents, traders, and pedestrians who operate within and around the busy shopping centre. Speaking during the exercise, local leaders and community representatives welcomed the initiative, noting that improved lighting will help deter crime and extend business hours, ultimately supporting local economic growth.
Present during the handover were KRC sub-county engineers and representatives from the Matulani community, who expressed optimism that the project will be completed within the set timelines. Residents have lauded the MCA’s commitment to development, describing the street lighting initiative as a timely intervention that will positively transform the area.
