Kitui Central parliamentary candidate CPA Mutisya Muema Utoto has intensified his grassroots engagements, meeting Majengo community leaders and shoe shiners in Kitui Township as he continues to build connections with residents ahead of the 2027 elections.
During his engagement with Majengo leaders, residents raised key concerns affecting their community, including poor roads, water shortages, youth unemployment and security. They also emphasised the need for leadership that remains accessible and responsive to the people even after elections.
Utoto later held a separate meeting with leaders representing shoe shiners in Kitui Township, where the informal sector workers shared challenges ranging from inadequate working shades and harassment to limited access to capital and exclusion from development programmes.
The Kitui Central aspirant said his approach to leadership was anchored on listening, understanding grassroots realities and championing inclusive solutions. He maintained that every resident deserves to be heard, regardless of their occupation or economic status, noting that even the smallest hustle contributes to the local economy.
The engagements underscore Utoto’s growing focus on grassroots mobilisation, with his campaign message centred on community participation and inclusive development. From Majengo’s neighbourhood concerns to the struggles of Kitui’s street hustlers, he is seeking to position himself as a leader who connects with people at their level.
