Mp Nyamai Fires Back at Opposition, Defends Working with Ruto

Kitui South Member of Parliament Rachael Kaki Nyamai has sharply criticized the United Opposition led by Kalonzo Musyoka, accusing them of lacking a clear development agenda and focusing on “empty political rhetoric.”

Speaking in her constituency, the third-term legislator dismissed the opposition’s “Wantam” chants, arguing that they do not address the pressing needs of wananchi. Nyamai maintained that her priority remains delivering tangible development to the people of Kitui South.

The MP defended her decision to work with President William Ruto, saying collaboration with the national government is key to unlocking resources for projects such as electricity connectivity, road construction, and improved infrastructure.

“I respect Kalonzo Musyoka as our community leader, but I cannot join opposition politics that lack a clear agenda for our people,” Nyamai said. “My focus is on service delivery and development.”

Her remarks come days after Kalonzo held a political rally in Mutomo town, where he criticized Nyamai for aligning herself with President Ruto’s administration. The Wiper leader is reportedly backing a candidate to challenge Nyamai in the 2027 general election.

Despite the criticism, Nyamai reaffirmed her commitment to working with the national government, insisting that partnership—not political confrontation—is the fastest way to deliver meaningful development to Kitui South residents.
