Chief Officer for Agriculture and Fisheries in the County Government of Kitui, Gladys Mami Kivoto, today attended a vibrant Ndwae Ngone Mwaitu ceremony at the home of Kwa Mbole Muthwii in Kyandulu village, Mosa, Kisasi Ward. The event was marked by a special visit from the family of Engineer Humphrey Mobutu Fundi.
Addressing the gathering, Mami Kivoto emphasized the importance of caring for the elderly, urging the youth to show consistent love and respect to aging family members. She highlighted the need for younger generations to take responsibility in supporting their elders for a smooth and dignified aging process.
Mami also shared her personal commitment, noting that she has made it a tradition every December to share Christmas Eve goodies with the elderly across Kitui County.
The colorful ceremony was also graced by several other leaders, including former Cabinet Secretary for EAC, ASALS & Regional Development Peninah Malonza, Ikanga/Kyatune MCA Hon. Cyrus Musyoka alias Sonko, nominated MCA Purity Sammy, among others.
The Ndwae Ngone Mwaitu tradition, a cherished Kamba cultural ceremony, continues to be a symbol of unity, respect, and love for parents and elders in the community.
