Kitui Woman representative Hon. Dr. Irene Kasalu, who is seeking the Kitui County governorship in the 2027 General Election, is currently in Beijing, China, where she is participating in a high-level capacity building training programme aimed at strengthening leadership and governance skills.
The leadership training has brought together participants from different regions to exchange ideas, learn global best practices, and explore innovative approaches to public service, economic development, and effective governance. Dr. Kasalu said the experience is equipping her with practical knowledge that can be applied to transform leadership in Kitui County.

She noted that exposure to international development models will help shape policies that promote inclusive growth, improve service delivery, and create more opportunities for residents across the county.
The aspiring governor emphasized that leadership is a continuous learning journey and that leaders must constantly seek new knowledge and innovative solutions to address emerging challenges. She reaffirmed her commitment to delivering accountable, people-centred leadership if elected in 2027.
