National Liberal Party (NLP) leader Dr Augustus Kyalo Muli on Tuesday held consultative talks with Jubilee Party Secretary General Hon Jeremiah Kioni, signaling intensifying political engagements ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The meeting, held at Hon Kioni’s office, brought together leaders from the two parties to deliberate on the evolving political landscape and explore possible areas of cooperation as early alignments begin to take shape. While the finer details of the discussions were not disclosed, the talks pointed to growing efforts to build broad-based alliances.
Jubilee Party, led by retired President Uhuru Kenyatta, has already declared its support for former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i as its preferred presidential candidate for 2027. The party has increasingly positioned itself as a central player in shaping opposition politics ahead of the polls.
Speaking after the meeting, Dr Muli said the National Liberal Party remains open to working with like-minded leaders and parties that share a common vision for transformative leadership and national unity.

“Our focus is on building partnerships with leaders who are committed to change and inclusive governance. These consultations mark the beginning of broader engagements going forward,” Dr Muli said.
The talks come amid heightened political activity around Fred Matiang’i’s anticipated presidential bid, which is widely reported to enjoy the backing of retired President Uhuru Kenyatta, a key political influencer within Jubilee.
Political observers view the engagement between Dr Muli and Hon Kioni as part of early realignments that could influence coalition-building ahead of 2027, as parties position themselves for both national relevance and grassroots support.
