Kitui South Member of Parliament, Dr. Racheal Nyamai, on Sunday joined residents of Kanziko Ward in Ikutha Sub-county for Madaraka Day celebrations, where she engaged with the community and local leaders on key development and social issues affecting the region.

The event, marked with patriotic performances and speeches, provided a platform for Dr. Nyamai to interact directly with constituents and listen to their concerns regarding stalled projects, water access, road infrastructure, education, and healthcare services.

Speaking during the event, Dr. Nyamai assured the residents of her unwavering commitment to improving service delivery and fast-tracking development initiatives in the constituency.

“This celebration is not just about marking a national day—it is an opportunity to listen to our people, understand their challenges, and work together to find sustainable solutions. Kitui South deserves continued progress, and I remain fully committed to delivering on our development agenda,” she said.

Dr. Nyamai also used the occasion to address the rising cases of gender-based violence in the region, urging women to prioritize their safety and speak out against abuse.

“To all the women here today, your safety and well-being must come first. We are seeing concerning trends in gender-based violence, and I encourage anyone affected to seek help. Let’s work together to protect one another and create a safer community,” she added.

Local leaders who accompanied the MP echoed her sentiments and pledged their support in addressing both infrastructural and social issues affecting the people of Kanziko Ward and greater Kitui South.

The celebrations concluded with a call for unity and continued collaboration between the community and elected leaders to realize the full potential of the constituency.
