Migwani Sub-County Hospital has entered a new era in service delivery after successfully performing its first-ever Emergency Caesarean Section (EMCS), a breakthrough that reflects ongoing efforts by the Kitui County Government to expand surgical and emergency care to grassroots facilities.
“This is a proud moment for Migwani and a big win for Kitui County,” said Dr. Benson Musyoka, Chief Officer for Medical Services. “It’s a direct result of our deliberate investment in decentralizing surgical services and building capacity at sub-county hospitals. The newly equipped general theatre at Migwani will not only support emergency obstetric care but also accommodate other essential surgeries, making comprehensive care more accessible to our people.”
Dr. Musyoka further noted that the Ministry is currently operationalizing another general theatre at Kanyangi Sub-County Hospital, with similar enhancements being rolled out across all level IV hospitals in the county.
This achievement ties directly into the health agenda of Governor Dr. Julius Malombe, as outlined in “The Kitui Promise”a blueprint that prioritizes equitable healthcare, improved infrastructure, and better health outcomes across the county.
“This is more than just a surgery, it’s evidence that The Kitui Promise is being delivered,” added Dr. Musyoka. “We commend the Migwani team for their professionalism, and we are committed to supporting similar progress in every corner of Kitui.”
