Controversial Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya has made a startling claim, alleging he was ambushed and attacked by heavily armed individuals he believes were impersonating officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
In a statement shared earlier today, MP Salasya recounted a harrowing ordeal, stating that his convoy was forcefully intercepted by unknown assailants who disarmed his security detail and opened fire on his vehicle.
“These people, heavily armed and moving with force, ambushed my convoy, disarmed my security team—confiscating their firearms—and pursued my vehicle. One of my security personnel managed to escape and helped me flee into a nearby bush for safety,” the MP claimed.
According to Salasya, the assailants, brandishing at least 15 AK-47 rifles, issued a chilling but undisclosed message once they had him cornered. “They shot at my vehicle, aiming directly at me,” he said. “I cannot disclose what they told me for security reasons.”
Salasya further emphasized that he has maintained peace in his public engagements and distanced himself from inflammatory rhetoric. He appealed to authorities and the public to remain vigilant, claiming he was being taken to an “unknown location.”
Efforts to reach the DCI for an official response were ongoing at the time of publication. The MP’s claims, if confirmed, raise serious questions about the identity and intentions of the attackers, as well as the state of political security in the country.
