Kitui County Chief Officer for Energy and Mineral Resources and Kitui East MP hopeful Henry Nyamai on Sunday, October 4, 2026, stepped up his grassroots engagements across Kitui East, combining church visits with support for community and school development initiatives.
Nyamai began the day at Zombe Catholic Church in Zombe-Mwitika Ward, where he joined the faithful in supporting the church’s development projects and the Diocesan Muvothi programme. During the gathering, he openly shared his intention to contest for the Kitui East parliamentary seat in the August 2027 elections.
“I shared with my people my intention to serve the people of Kitui East as the Member of Parliament in August 2027,” Nyamai said, while thanking Parish Priest Fr Cosmus Ndumbi for his leadership and work at Holy Spirit Zombe Catholic Church.
He later attended Holy Mass at St Mathias Mulumba Endau Catholic Church in Endau/Malalani Ward, where the Eucharistic celebration was led by Parish Priest Rev. Fr Amos Musingil. Nyamai joined Christians in supporting the Diocesan Muvothi and ongoing church completion projects, using the occasion to urge residents to remain committed to initiatives that strengthen their communities.
The engagements brought together several local leaders, including Kitui Central MP and gubernatorial aspirant Makali Mulu, Kitui County Assembly Speaker Kinengo Katisya, Kithumula/Kwa Mutonga MCA Paul Maluki, Hon. Malinga and Hon. Kalamba Musau, among others.
Reflecting on the day’s religious message, Nyamai invoked John 15:16, urging families, churches and communities to remain fruitful. He called on residents to embrace unity and development, saying: “May our families produce good fruit. May our parish produce good fruit. May our communities produce good fruit.”
Nyamai later moved to Ngangani and Uw’u in Mutito/Kaliku, where he met residents and joined them in supporting school development programmes, including initiatives targeting Uw’u Comprehensive School. The series of engagements underlined his growing grassroots presence as he seeks to position himself as a candidate for Kitui East in the 2027 elections, while placing community development and church partnerships at the centre of his outreach.
