Kitui County Chief Officer for Finance and Revenue Management, CPA John Makau, has called on Mwingi Central MP Gideon Mulyungi to stop what he described as intimidation and interference with development partners working in the constituency.
Speaking on behalf of the County Government of Kitui, Makau reaffirmed Governor Dr. Julius Malombe’s administration’s commitment to working with NGOs and other development partners to address challenges facing residents, particularly in the water sector.
Makau urged the National Government security agencies in Mwingi to ensure that development partners are protected and allowed to undertake their programmes without intimidation or disruption.
His remarks follow reported comments by Mulyungi concerning Water Canada, an organisation undertaking water drilling activities in Mwingi Central. Makau said discouraging organisations from supporting communities risks denying residents critical development opportunities.
According to Makau, Mwingi Central needs leadership that welcomes partnerships and creates an enabling environment for development.
The 2027 Mwingi Central MP aspirant also called on professionals and residents of the constituency to speak out against actions that could undermine development initiatives, urging voters to choose leaders who can attract more partners and investment to the region.
Development should unite leaders—not become a reason to chase away those willing to support our communities.
