Kitui Governor H.E. Dr. Julius Malombe, EGH, on Friday commissioned several key development projects in Waita Ward, Mwingi Central Sub-County, aimed at improving infrastructure, healthcare, and overall service delivery to residents.
The Governor, accompanied by County Executive Committee Member for Agriculture and Livestock Dr. Stephen Mbaya Kimwele, officially launched the 45-metre Mutwangombe Drift, the extended Kathoka Vented Drift, and associated river protection works. The projects are expected to enhance connectivity, improve road safety, and facilitate the movement of people and goods, especially during rainy seasons.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, Governor Malombe reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering tangible development across the county. “Development is not a promise for tomorrow; it is a reality we are delivering today, project by project and ward by ward,” he said.
In the health sector, the Governor commissioned the renovated outpatient block at Waita Health Centre and the renovated and newly equipped Maongoa Dispensary. The upgraded facilities are set to improve access to quality healthcare services, reduce travel distances for patients seeking treatment, and strengthen healthcare delivery for residents of Waita Ward and surrounding areas.
Residents welcomed the projects, noting that the investments will contribute significantly to improved livelihoods and enhanced access to essential services in the area.
