Kauwi, Kitui County – A wave of joy and gratitude swept through Nzemeli village in Kauwi location as Hon. Gabriel Mutunga Munyao, the Member of County Assembly (MCA) for Kauwi Ward, officially handed over a newly constructed house to Janet Syonthi Katolo—a testament to the power of compassionate leadership and community-driven development.

During the campaign period, Hon. Mutunga Munyao made a heartfelt promise to uplift the living conditions of Ms. Katolo, who had been residing in a dilapidated and unsafe structure. True to his word, he fulfilled this promise, completing the house project that has now brought new hope to Janet and her family.

The handover ceremony, a moving and well-attended event, brought together community members, church leaders, and other local stakeholders. In his address, Hon. Mutunga emphasized that leadership goes beyond policy-making and politics—it is about taking tangible actions that transform lives.

“When I saw the condition Janet was living in, I knew something had to be done. Leadership is about service, and service to humanity is service to God,” he said, echoing the emotional sentiments of the day.

The moment Janet received the keys to her new home was met with tears of joy and heartfelt applause from those in attendance. Her gratitude was a powerful reminder of the positive impact that responsive leadership can have on the most vulnerable members of society.

“This is more than just a house—it is a symbol of hope and what we can achieve when we come together as a community,” Hon. Mutunga added.

The MCA’s office has pledged to continue identifying and supporting more vulnerable families within Kauwi Ward, reiterating the belief that every resident deserves a safe and dignified place to call home.

In conclusion, Hon. Mutunga called upon government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and private sector partners to collaborate in similar efforts, emphasizing that a united approach is key to building a stronger and more caring society.
