Kitui South Member of Parliament, Dr. Rachael Kaki Nyamai, has lauded President William Ruto and Parliament for delivering on a long-standing promise to compensate residents affected by the construction of the Kibwezi–Kitui Road.

The government has allocated Sh1.5 billion towards compensating landowners whose property was acquired for the construction of the strategic infrastructure project, a move that has sparked relief and jubilation across the region.

Announcing the news during a recent parliamentary session, Dr. Nyamai expressed heartfelt appreciation to all who have relentlessly championed the compensation cause.

“Some great news for Kibwezi–Kitui Road. Thank you Parliament and all involved. Be blessed,” she posted on her social media platforms.

She hailed the President for his commitment and action, noting that this development marks a significant milestone in fulfilling the government’s pledge to the people.

“This was promised and promised… now, family, we have seen the Sh1.5 billion and we are optimistic about the rest of the funds being handled,” Dr. Nyamai said.

The MP also acknowledged the role played by a delegation of leaders who recently held discussions with President Ruto, ensuring that the issue of compensation remained a top agenda item. Their intervention, she noted, was key in unlocking the long-delayed funds.

Special thanks were also extended to Parliament, particularly the Departmental Committee on Lands, chaired by Hon. Joash Nyamoko, for persistently pushing the matter in the House.

The release of the Sh1.5 billion brings long-awaited hope and closure to hundreds of families in Kitui South and beyond, who have patiently waited for justice and recognition.

This compensation is expected to restore dignity and stability to affected households, while reinforcing public trust in the government’s commitment to fairness and infrastructure development.
