A new dawn for boda boda operators in Kisasi Ward as the Kisasi Ward Boda Boda SACCO was officially launched today in a vibrant event held at Mbusyani Village. The ceremony was officiated by area MCA Hon. Nicholas Muema Mutemi and Chief officer for transport Ketonya Musya
The initiative, supported by Kitui Governor H.E. Dr. Julius Makau Malombe, aims to empower boda boda riders economically by offering them a platform to access credit, improve savings, and enhance their livelihoods through organized operations.
Speaking during the inauguration, Hon. Mutemi lauded the unity shown by the operators and encouraged them to take full advantage of the SACCO to build a stronger economic future. “This SACCO is your vehicle to growth—use it wisely, and your lives will change,” said the MCA.
The event was attended by the County Boda Boda Chairman Mr. Kevin Kivala and dozens of boda boda riders from various parts of Kisasi Ward, who expressed optimism about the opportunities the SACCO will bring.“This is a game changer.
We now have a structure to lean on,” said one of the operators during the forum.The launch of the SACCO marks a major step in formalizing the informal transport sector in the region and is expected to spur grassroots development through economic empowerment of the youth.
