Kitui County Assembly Speaker Hon. Kevin Kinengo Katisya, who has declared his interest in the Kitui senatorial seat in the 2027 General Election, joined other leaders at a Kenya Kwanza development and empowerment programme held at Kathivo in Kwa Mutonga/Kithumula Ward, Kitui West Constituency. The engagement, hosted by Commissioner Ben Muasya and MCA Hon. Paul Maluki, brought together leaders and residents to discuss development priorities and opportunities for grassroots empowerment.Kinengo said the message from residents was centred on the need to move away from politics that, in their view, has not translated into meaningful improvements in people’s daily lives. He highlighted infrastructure, reliable water supply and sustainable economic empowerment as some of the key issues requiring continued attention.
The Speaker also commended President William Ruto for what he described as efforts to extend national government development programmes to Kitui and other historically underserved areas. The forum was led by Kitui South MP Dr. Rachael Kaki Nyamai, with several other leaders participating in the engagement. Muasya had earlier announced the Kathivo forum as an initiative bringing residents and welfare groups together to discuss development and empowerment.Kinengo’s participation comes as he continues to build his campaign for the Kitui Senate seat ahead of the 2027 elections, having publicly declared his intention to vie for the position. The Kathivo meeting therefore served both as a development engagement and an opportunity for leaders to interact directly with residents on the issues affecting their communities.
