The National Council of Churches of Kenya (NCCK), in collaboration with the Kitui County Government through its Ministry of Tourism, led a successful tree planting exercise at the Mutomo Hills Plant Sanctuary and Botanical Garden.

Led by NCCK Program Director Mr. Phils Kamau, Deputy Director of Tourism Mr. Ezron Mulatya, and Project Coordinator Mr. Andrew Nyamu, the event saw the planting of over 100 medicinal and indigenous trees. The initiative aims to promote environmental conservation and rehabilitate local ecosystems.

Later, the team visited the Kitui South Snake Park Sanctuary, where they lauded ongoing conservation efforts. Mr. Mulatya, who also led this visit, said the group is exploring opportunities to initiate further joint projects in collaboration with the county government.

The event concluded with a stakeholders’ seminar held at Mutomo Capitol, where participants discussed strategies for sustainable environmental management and tourism development.
