South Eastern Kenya University (SEKU) has dismissed a circulating opinion poll on Kitui politics as fake, saying it was not conducted by the institution and does not bear its official logo.
The purported poll surfaced online amid renewed political activity by former Governor Charity Ngilu, who is seeking a comeback in Kitui County. Critics quickly questioned the credibility of the document, pointing to inconsistencies in design and branding.
A senior lecturer in SEKU’s Department of Linguistics and Literature confirmed to this team that the university had not carried out any county opinion poll, for Kitui or elsewhere.
“Absolutely not,” the lecturer said when asked about the survey, adding that the logo on the poster did not match SEKU’s official branding. “Even lies require a functional brain. Anybody in Kenya knows our logo. This is a cheap production, absolutely not from us.”
The university urged the public to disregard the document and rely on official communication channels for verified information.
