Outstanding yatta Kwa Vonza Ward Member of the Kitui County Assembly, Hon. Mark Nding’o, has issued a scathing response to Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa, defending Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka against what he termed as “disrespectful and baseless” remarks.

Barasa had taken to social media to criticize Kalonzo, mocking the perceived low turnout at a recent public event. “I will resign as an MP if such a small crowd turns out for my function in my backyard. It’s a sign of no confidence. Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka, wake up and smell the coffee,” Barasa posted.

The comment drew sharp reactions from Wiper leaders and supporters, with Hon. Nding’o leading the charge in defense of the former Vice President.

“MP Didmus Barasa is not equal to Kalonzo in any measure and should refrain from meddling in Wiper Party affairs. He should focus on his own ambitions, particularly his interest in the Bungoma gubernatorial seat,” said Nding’o during a press briefing in Kitui.

The MCA further reiterated that Kalonzo Musyoka remains a respected and influential national figure with unwavering support across the country, particularly in the Ukambani region.

“Kalonzo commands loyalty not just because of appearances at events but because of his decades of integrity and leadership. Barasa is simply seeking attention by attacking seasoned leaders,” he added.

Wiper Party insiders have also dismissed Barasa’s remarks as a “desperate sideshow” aimed at diverting attention from Kalonzo’s rising political momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The verbal exchange underscores the intensifying political climate as the country inches closer to the next electoral cycle, with rival camps already positioning themselves for the high-stakes contest.
