Governor Malombe Commissions Key Water and Health Projects in Mwingi West

MWINGI WEST, March 28, 2026 — Julius Malombe on Friday toured Mwingi West Sub-County, where he commissioned a series of major water and health projects aimed at improving service delivery and uplifting livelihoods in the region.

During the visit to Kiomo/Kyethani Ward, the Governor officially launched the Tyaa–Wimbondo–Wikithuki Sump Well, a Kshs. 13.1 million solar-powered project.

The initiative is already supplying clean and reliable water to more than 200 households as well as Wimbondo Primary School, with plans underway to extend the supply to Wikithuki area.In Migwani Ward, the Governor commissioned the renovated maternity unit at Mumbuni Dispensary, a move expected to significantly enhance maternal and child healthcare services.

He also unveiled the upgraded main theatre at Migwani Level IV Hospital alongside a newly constructed modern kitchen, projects designed to strengthen surgical capacity and improve patient welfare.Speaking during the tour, Governor Malombe reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to investing in critical infrastructure at the grassroots level, noting that access to clean water and quality healthcare remains a top priority.

Local leaders and county officials who attended the events lauded the county government for prioritizing development projects that directly impact communities, saying the initiatives will go a long way in improving living standards across Mwingi West.

The commissioning marks another milestone in Kitui County’s ongoing efforts to expand access to essential services and drive sustainable development at the community level.
