Dr. Irene Kasalu Engages Kitui South Leaders, Empowers Muangeni Community
Kitui Woman Representative and 2027 gubernatorial aspirant Hon. Dr. Irene Kasalu on Saturday, November 1, 2025, held a strategic engagement meeting with opinion leaders from Ikutha Sub-County. The meeting, led by prominent figures including Hon. Japheth Kasimbu, businessmen Mulwa Nzinga, Ngei Kasimbu, Kongo, and former Kitui South MP Hon. Isaac Muoki, brought together influential voices to discuss the development priorities of Kitui South.
Dr. Kasalu emphasized the need for unity and collaborative leadership as the foundation for meaningful transformation in Kitui County. She underscored that development is best achieved when leaders and citizens work hand in hand to address local challenges and create opportunities for all. “Kitui’s future is bright when we come together with a shared vision,” she said.
The Woman Representative was accompanied by a team of notable leaders, among them Former Mutito MP Hon. Ezekiel Mweu, Former Zombe MCA Eunice Katheke, and Councillor Wambua. The discussions focused on strengthening grassroots development structures, empowering local enterprises, and enhancing service delivery across the county.
Later in the day, Dr. Kasalu addressed enthusiastic residents at Muangeni Market, where she handed over a motorbike to the Muangeni Bodaboda Sacco. The gesture aims to boost local transport operations and improve the livelihoods of youth who rely on the bodaboda sector for income.
In her address, Dr. Kasalu urged the residents of Kitui South to remain steadfast and united as the county prepares for the next phase of economic transformation. She reaffirmed her intention to prioritize youth and women empowerment programs, agribusiness initiatives, and education support to unlock the full potential of local communities.
Community leaders who attended the event hailed Dr. Kasalu’s leadership and development track record, noting that her continued engagement with grassroots stakeholders reflects a people-centered approach to governance.
