Kitui South Member of Parliament, Hon. Dr. Rachael Kaki Nyamai, CBS, today hosted the Principal Secretary for Energy, Mr. Alex Wachira, during the launch of key electrification projects at Tuvila Dispensary and Kyatune Primary School. The projects mark a significant milestone in the government’s ongoing efforts to expand access to reliable power in rural parts of Kitui County.
Speaking during the event, PS Wachira announced that Kitui South Constituency will benefit from KSh 524 million out of the KSh 2.2 billion allocated to Kitui County for rural electrification. He noted that the funds will be channeled through the Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation (REREC) to connect public institutions and households to the national grid.
Dr. Kaki Nyamai expressed her gratitude to the national government for prioritizing Kitui South in the current phase of rural electrification. She reaffirmed her unwavering commitment to fast-tracking development projects that uplift the lives of her constituents, noting that access to electricity remains a key driver of social and economic transformation.
The MP emphasized that electrifying schools, health facilities, and trading centers will enhance learning outcomes, improve healthcare delivery, and promote local business growth. She also urged residents to support and safeguard government projects, underscoring that collaboration between citizens and leaders is vital for sustainable development in Kitui South.
