The County Government of Kitui has sealed a groundbreaking partnership with Tiva Secondary School’s Board of Management, clearing the way for Kenya Utalii College and the Africa Inland Church (AIC-K) to establish a Mission Hospital and Hospitality Training Centre on the school’s land.

Speaking during the signing ceremony, Governor Dr. Julius Malombe said the initiative represents more than just infrastructure. “We are not just building physical structures, we are investing in dignity, opportunity, and empowerment of our youth,” he affirmed.

Tiva Secondary has already benefited from a modern multipurpose hall, and a borehole is now on the way. The collaboration, first conceived in 2014, will not only provide advanced tourism and hospitality training but also expand healthcare access for surrounding communities.

The development is expected to position Kitui as a new hub for hospitality education, giving local youth an edge in tourism-related careers that have traditionally been concentrated in Nairobi and Mombasa. With Utalii College on board, the region is set to attract both local and international students, boosting the county’s profile as a center of excellence.

At the same time, the Mission Hospital will bring essential health services closer to the people of Kitui South. Residents who often travel long distances for specialized care will soon benefit from a facility equipped to handle a wide range of medical needs, reinforcing the county’s broader agenda of improving healthcare.

Community leaders hailed the project as a “dream come true,” noting that it blends education, healthcare, and faith-based support under one roof. The partnership demonstrates the power of collaboration between government, religious institutions, and educational bodies in driving transformative change at the grassroots.
