Kauwi Ward’s MCA Hon. Gabriel Munyao has been ranked the third most performing Member of County Assembly (MCA) in Kenya, according to the latest Mizani Africa Voter’s Choice Awards 2025 rankings.
With an impressive national performance rating of 67.9%, Hon. Munyao stood out among hundreds of MCAs across the country, earning praise for his unwavering commitment to service delivery, youth empowerment, and community-driven development.
The MCA, who represents Kauwi Ward in Kitui County, has earned admiration for his hands-on approach to leadership, including:
Feeding programs for both public and private institutions during examination periods for school children across all his ward.

Personally building homes for vulnerable families, using his own resources to uplift the lives of the needy.

Sponsoring youth sports activities by providing uniforms and supporting local tournaments as a way of keeping young people engaged and inspired.
Reviving stalled projects by leveraging his position as the Chair of the County Assembly’s Investment and Accounts Committee, pushing for the completion of long-forgotten developments initiated by previous administrations.

Hon. Munyao is also recognized for his high visibility and accessibility, attending over 95% of public meetings and forums within his ward. This has solidified his connection with the people, earning him respect as a truly available and accountable leader.

His close working relationship with Governor Dr. Julius Makau Malombe has further enhanced service delivery in Kauwi Ward, as the two leaders have collaborated on lobbying for major infrastructure and social projects.
In the same rankings, Hon. Mark Ndingo was placed fourth nationally with 66.4%, underscoring the growing importance of active ward-level leadership in Kenya’s devolved system.
Hon. Gabriel Munyao’s achievement is a shining example of servant leadership, and a clear reminder that effective grassroots governance is possible when leaders prioritize people over politics.
