In a landmark initiative aimed at empowering the next generation, Nzisa Matulu Foundation, in partnership with the County Government of Kitui, has launched a countywide Reusable Sanitary Pad Drive targeting over 50,000 school-going girls.

The drive is designed not only to provide reusable sanitary kits but also to deliver essential education on menstrual hygiene, with the broader goal of keeping girls in school, boosting self-confidence, and promoting dignity and sustainable hygiene practices.

Nzisa Matulu, founder and director of the foundation, today visited key line ministries in Kitui County to forge a coordinated working formula in preparation for an upcoming courtesy call to the Governor’s office. The high-level engagements are focused on aligning the project with existing county health and education frameworks.

> “A healthy life is a human right. We’re here to protect it by ensuring that no girl misses school because of a natural and manageable process like menstruation,” said Nzisa during the visit.

The Objectives of the Drive Include:

Distributing free, high-quality reusable sanitary pad kits to over 50,000 girls across Kitui’s public schools.

Providing menstrual hygiene education to both students and school staff.

Promoting environmental sustainability through the use of reusable pads.

Strengthening confidence and dignity among adolescent girls.

Many girls in rural and marginalized communities continue to miss classes or even drop out due to lack of access to sanitary products. The foundation’s work, backed by the county leadership, aims to eliminate this barrier and champion the rights of every girl to education and health.
