Principal Secretary for Livestock Development, Hon. Jonathan Mueke, on Thursday chaired the wrap-up meeting of the Mid Term Review (MTR) for the Kenya Livestock Commercialization Project (KeLCoP) at Kilimo House. The meeting brought together representatives from the Government of Kenya and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) to evaluate the project’s progress and chart the way forward.
The review followed a comprehensive field mission across six counties, where project teams engaged with local communities and assessed implementation on the ground. Stakeholders discussed successes, challenges, and areas requiring improvement, with a focus on maximizing the project’s benefits to pastoralist and smallholder communities.
Hon. Mueke reaffirmed the government’s commitment to accelerating KeLCoP implementation to ensure the initiative delivers tangible improvements to the livestock sector. He emphasized that strategic partnerships and community-driven interventions remain key to achieving sustainable development and improving livelihoods in Kenya’s arid and semi-arid regions.
