A high-level meeting bringing together professionals from Kitui County was held on Saturday at Yatta Farm, where leaders engaged with Kalonzo Musyoka on matters touching on community empowerment, leadership engagement, youth participation, and socio-economic development.
Among those present was Kitui County CEC Member for Agriculture and Livestock, Dr. Stephen Mbaya Kimwele, who described the engagement as productive and focused on strengthening collaboration among professionals for the benefit of the people of Kitui and the larger Lower Eastern region.
The meeting, held at Yatta Farm, centered on the importance of unity among leaders and professionals, enhancing civic awareness, and building stronger grassroots networks capable of accelerating development across communities.
Speaking after the engagement, Dr. Kimwele said the discussions reflected a shared commitment towards development-oriented dialogue and inclusive leadership that prioritizes the needs of ordinary wananchi.
“We remain committed to unity, development-oriented dialogue, and building stronger networks that will positively impact Kitui County and beyond,” said Dr. Kimwele.
The Agriculture CEC further emphasized the need to empower young people and involve grassroots communities in governance and development conversations, noting that sustainable progress can only be achieved through collective participation and visionary leadership.
Political observers view the meeting as another significant gathering aimed at consolidating Wiper Democratic Movement support structures in Ukambani ahead of the 2027 political landscape.
Dr. Kimwele, who is increasingly being mentioned in Kitui political circles as a strong contender for the Senate seat in 2027, is regarded as one of the trusted allies of Kalonzo Musyoka within the Wiper Party leadership structure.
The Saturday engagement also underscored the growing role of professionals in shaping policy discussions, mobilizing communities, and supporting leadership initiatives geared towards economic empowerment, agricultural transformation, and social progress in Kitui County.
As the 2027 succession politics gradually begin taking shape in Kitui County, such consultative forums are expected to play a major role in strengthening political networks, policy alignment, and community-driven development agendas.
