Residents living along the border areas of Kitui County are facing growing fear following a surge in insecurity incidents, prompting fresh calls for immediate government intervention.
Speaking on the matter, Yatta KwaVonza MCA Hon. Mark Nding’o expressed deep concern over the deteriorating security situation, warning that communities are increasingly exposed to danger due to frequent attacks and lack of adequate protection.
The MCA noted that cases of livestock theft, banditry, and violent confrontations have become more frequent, disrupting livelihoods and forcing some families to live in constant fear. He emphasized that the situation is no longer manageable at the local level and requires swift national government response.
Hon. Nding’o urged security agencies to intensify patrols and establish more permanent security installations in the affected areas to deter criminal activities. He also called for better coordination between county leadership and national security organs to ensure residents are protected.
“We cannot continue to watch as our people suffer. The government must act now to restore peace and security in these border regions,” he said.
Local leaders and residents have echoed his sentiments, calling for urgent deployment of additional security personnel and resources. They argue that without decisive action, the insecurity could escalate further, undermining development and stability in the region.
The appeal now places pressure on authorities to respond promptly and reassure communities that their safety remains a priority.
