The National Liberal Party (NLP) has kicked off a high-energy membership registration caravan in Mwingi region as part of a nationwide effort to ramp up political support ahead of the 2027 general election.
Led by the party’s national patron, Anzauni, and attended by local officials, the caravan aims to recruit and register new members while engaging communities in the party’s manifesto and policy priorities. It visited key towns in the region—Mwingi Central, Kyuso, and Kanziku—where it held open-air rallies, door-to-door drives, and grassroots discussions.
“Today we launch our commitment to broad-based representation,” said Patron Anzauni at the central Mwingi rally. “This drive goes beyond paperwork—it’s about engaging every citizen in the democratic process.”
According to NLP officials, the caravan estimate to reach thousands of residents seeking to join ahead of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) deadline. Party coordinators emphasized:
- Focused mobilisation: Teams distributing registration kits, assisting online and physical registration.
- Engagement platforms: Public forums tackling issues such as access to clean water, agricultural support, county development, and youth empowerment.
- Visible turnout: The caravan triggered robust participation from young voters, women’s groups, and community elders.
Local residents responded positively:
“It’s refreshing to see politicians listen and register us directly,” said a Mwingi youth leader during the caravan’s stop in mwingi.

The caravan will continue circulating in Kitui County before moving to other regions across Eastern Kenya, part of a nationwide campaign designed to enhance the NLP’s visibility, membership, and voter base ahead of the legally mandated cut-off by the IEBC.
Political analysts note that such mobilization efforts are becoming increasingly vital as parties gear up for the 2027 general election; they help parties build momentum, strengthen grassroots connections, and meet legal membership requirements.
