Yatta Kwa Vonza Member of the Kitui County Assembly (MCA), Hon. Mark Ndingo, has raised concerns over delays in the development of the Kitui Industrial Park, citing failure by the National Government to honor its commitments. Speaking during the Morning Talk Show on Kwitu Radio FM, Ndingo said the project, which is located in his ward, is a joint initiative between the National Government and the County Government of Kitui.
The MCA revealed that all the existing infrastructure at the industrial park has been undertaken solely by the County Government, noting that the National Government is yet to play its part. He called on the National Government to fulfill its obligations, warning that if delays persist, leaders will push harder for the National Government to release funds to ensure completion of the project.
On the Kitui County Textile Centre (KICOTEC), Hon. Ndingo said the project is still running well but emphasized that proper management is needed to make it competitive and impactful. He noted that with effective management, KICOTEC has the potential to stand out nationally and create much-needed employment opportunities for local residents.
Addressing the Kitui Stone Crusher project, the MCA confirmed that operations are ongoing but proposed that the facility be handed over to a locally based cooperative society. He said allowing the Kwa Vonza community to run the project would enhance local ownership, efficiency, and direct economic benefits to residents.
Hon. Ndingo reiterated his commitment to advocating for development projects that improve livelihoods in Yatta Kwa Vonza and across Kitui County.
