Outstanding Hon. Mark Ndingo, Member of County Assembly (MCA) for Yatta Kwa Vonza, is earning widespread praise from residents for his collaborative leadership with Governor Dr. Julius Malombe, which has seen a series of transformative projects implemented across the ward.
Yatta Kwa Vonza is fast emerging as one of the most developed wards in Kitui County, having benefited from both County and National Government initiatives. Locals have lauded Hon. Ndingo for his hands-on approach and commitment to delivering meaningful change on the ground.
In a major boost to the region, the County Government of Kitui in partnership with the National Government—through the State Department of Livestock Development—has announced plans to establish a Kitui Livestock Training Institute (KLTI) and a modern feedlot to support livestock-based livelihoods and food security.
The proposed KLTI will be established on land directly opposite the AP Border Patrol Training College in Kanyonyoo, while the feedlot will be located within the B2 Yatta Ranching Cooperative Society. A joint site visit was recently conducted to assess the proposed locations.
Unveiled during a stakeholders’ forum in Mwingi by Kitui Agriculture and Livestock Minister Dr. Stephen Mbaya Kimwele, the project will offer training in animal health, value addition, and livestock processing—targeting enhanced sector productivity and rural resilience.
“This initiative reflects the transformative agenda of H.E. Dr. Julius Malombe, with a strong focus on economic empowerment, job creation, and sustainable development in arid and semi-arid areas,” said Dr. Mbaya.
He was flanked by County Ministers Rose Mutuku (Trade) and Frederick Kimanga (Lands), alongside Chief Officers Jonathan Kyambi (Livestock) and Paul Munyi (Cooperatives). National Government representatives from the State Department of Livestock and other senior county officials were also in attendance.
Kwa Vonza Ward, which also hosts the Kanyonyoo Irrigation Centre, continues to position itself as a development hub in the region, thanks to strategic partnerships and visionary leadership at both county and national levels.
