Residents of Ilika in Yatta Kwa Vonza ward are celebrating a major milestone after the official handover of a newly completed borehole at Ilika Secondary School. The project, which was fully funded by the County Government of Kitui, was commissioned by area MCA Hon. Mark Ndingo on Friday afternoon.
Speaking during the event, Hon. Ndingo expressed his gratitude to the county administration and stakeholders for supporting the initiative, noting that access to clean and safe water is a basic right and a critical need for the people of Ilika.
“This borehole is a game-changer for the community. For years, our people have struggled with water scarcity. Today, we mark a new chapter where students and residents can access clean water conveniently,” said the MCA.
Community members and school representatives lauded the project, saying it will greatly ease the burden of fetching water from distant sources, improve hygiene standards, and enhance learning conditions for students.
The borehole is expected to serve not only the school but also surrounding households, boosting public health and development in the region.
This achievement adds to Hon. Ndingo’s growing list of development efforts in the ward as he continues to prioritize essential services for his constituents.
