The leader of the National Liberal Party and patron of the Anzauni National Party, Muli, has formally entered the race for the Kitui Central parliamentary seat in the 2027 General Election, adding momentum to an already crowded contest.
Muli made the declaration on Monday evening during a dinner engagement with Kitui-based media practitioners, where he said his bid was inspired by a commitment to provide bold, transformative leadership for the people of Kitui Central.
Speaking to journalists, Muli outlined his political agenda, which he said would be anchored on inclusive development, accountability in the use of public resources, and leadership that puts the needs of wananchi first.
He noted that Kitui Central requires a focused and vocal representative in Parliament who can effectively articulate local concerns while contributing meaningfully to national legislation and policy formulation.
Muli said his decision to first engage the media was a strategic move aimed at promoting transparency and building a culture of open dialogue between leaders, the press, and the public.
The aspirant expressed confidence that his political experience and national exposure would give him an edge in the race, adding that he plans to roll out extensive consultations across all wards in the constituency ahead of the elections.
His entry into the race comes as several other aspirants position themselves to succeed outgoing MP Dr. Makali Mulu, who is expected to vie for the Kitui governor’s seat in 2027. Those in the contest include Kyangwithya West MCA and Deputy Speaker Hon. Nzilu, Bonnie Musambi, Crispus Ileli, and former UDA senatorial candidate Stephen Kilonzo.
