Kitui County staff delivered an outstanding performance at this year’s KICOSCA Games held in Siaya County, securing an impressive collection of medals across various disciplines. The team showcased grit, talent, and consistency, firmly placing Kitui among the top performing counties in the national competition that brings together public servants from across Kenya.
In the highly competitive categories, Kitui excelled with remarkable results: Draught players clinched 2nd position, Table Tennis secured 3rd place, while Pool Table competitors earned a commendable 2nd position. The county also dominated in field events, with the Javelin team taking home 1st position. In Triple Jump and Long Jump, Kitui bagged 2nd and 3rd positions respectively, highlighting the depth of athletic ability within the team.
The walking race team added to the county’s medal tally with 2nd and 4th positions, demonstrating endurance and strong teamwork. In the 100m race for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs), Kitui athletes performed exceptionally well, with Collins Kilonzo finishing 2nd and Samuel clinching 1st position. Their achievements underscored the county’s inclusive approach to sports and commitment to empowering all athletes.
The KICOSCA Games continue to serve as a vital platform for counties to showcase their sporting excellence and promote unity through competition. Kitui County’s stellar performance reflects the hard work and dedication of its athletes, who displayed discipline, resilience, and impressive teamwork throughout the tournament.
The success was made possible through effective coordination by the Ministry of Culture, Gender, Youth, ICT, Sports, and Social Services under the leadership of County Executive Member Hon. Phoebe Mutemi. Her steadfast support and guidance have been instrumental in preparing and motivating the team, ensuring Kitui County remains a formidable contender in future KICOSCA events.
