The National Liberal Party (NLP) leader, Hon. Dr. Augustus Kyalo Muli, on Friday hosted hundreds of party members at his palatial home in an event held to honour the late former Prime Minister Raila Amollo Odinga.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Muli described Raila as a true nationalist who loved the Kamba community and worked tirelessly to unite the country. He urged President William Ruto to honour the Kamba nation with key government appointments as a gesture of goodwill and appreciation for the community’s long-standing support for Raila Odinga.
“If indeed President Ruto had an agreement with Baba, then he must show love to the Kamba people who gave Raila Odinga 80 percent of their votes for over 15 years,” Muli said.
The NLP leader, who is under growing pressure from residents to declare his 2027 political plans, stopped short of announcing which seat he will seek. However, over 50 former councillors who attended the event pledged to back whichever position he chooses to contest.
Dr. Muli further emphasized that Ukambani should not be viewed as an opposition zone, urging the Head of State to ensure equitable distribution of development projects and job opportunities across the region.
Reaffirming his commitment to strengthening the National Liberal Party ahead of the 2027 General Elections, Muli revealed that the party has already registered over 500,000 members and plans to field candidates for all elective positions across the country.
“We are building a strong, people-driven movement that will give Kenyans a fresh alternative in 2027,” he concluded.
