Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Malombe on Monday hosted a high-powered government delegation led by the Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports, H.E. Salim Mvurya, for an inspection of Ithookwe Stadium ahead of the 2025 Mashujaa Day celebrations.

The delegation included PS Raymond Omollo (Internal Security), PS Elijah Mwangi (Sports), and PS for Livestock Development Hon. Jonathan Mueke, among other senior officials.

During the visit, the leaders expressed satisfaction with the impressive progress made at the stadium, which is now 96 percent complete. They commended the quality of construction and the speed of delivery, noting that Kitui is fully prepared to host the national celebrations.

Governor Malombe thanked the national government for its collaboration and investment in the project, terming Ithookwe Stadium a landmark development that will not only host major national events but also boost local sports and economic activities.

CS Mvurya reaffirmed the government’s commitment to completing the remaining works on time and ensuring a world-class experience during Mashujaa Day.

With only final touches remaining, Ithookwe Stadium now stands as a beacon of pride and transformation for Kitui County — a testament to effective collaboration between national and county governments.
