The Principal Secretary for Livestock Development, Hon. Jonathan Mueke, and Kitui South MP, Dr. Racheal Kaki Nyamai, on Monday led the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) grassroots leaders’ sensitization forum for Kitui County.

The forum, held concurrently across all 47 counties, follows a directive by President William Ruto for all Principal Secretaries to spearhead the nationwide sensitization drive aimed at empowering youth at the grassroots.

The NYOTA initiative is part of the government’s broader job creation and economic empowerment agenda, focusing on equipping vulnerable youth with opportunities to participate in income-generating programs and enterprise development.

The NYOTA Project is empowering young Kenyans to create jobs, build businesses and shape their future.

Opened the NYOTA Sensitization Forum in Kitui County, rallying leaders to help more youth benefit from this transformative initiative. Through NYOTA, over 820,000 young people will access start-up capital, training and skills certification, turning ideas into income and passion into purpose.

The Business Support Application window opens today and runs until 12th October 2025.

𝑮𝒊𝒗𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒈 𝑲𝒆𝒏𝒚𝒂𝒏 𝒂 𝒇𝒂𝒊𝒓 𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒅𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒎, 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒌 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒔𝒖𝒄𝒄𝒆𝒆𝒅.

Speaking during the Kitui forum, PS Mueke emphasized the government’s commitment to inclusivity and transparency in implementing the transformative project, noting that the whole-of-government approach will ensure no region or group is left behind.

Dr. Racheal Nyamai commended the initiative, terming it a game-changer for rural youth who have long been excluded from national economic programs.

Other county leaders, administrators, and youth representatives attended the session, expressing optimism that the NYOTA project will significantly reduce unemployment and foster sustainable livelihoods in Kitui.
