The Kitui County Executive and County Assembly have concluded a seven-day consultative retreat at PrideInn Flamingo Beach Resort, Mombasa, issuing a joint communiqué highlighting three years of achievements and setting new priorities as the county heads to 2027.
Governor Dr. Julius Malombe revealed that his administration has rolled out 2,244 projects across all 40 wards and 247 villages, transforming sectors such as agriculture, water, health, education, infrastructure, and youth empowerment. Among the milestones are 316 sand dams, 1,398 ECDE classrooms, 928 km of roads opened, 311 health facilities operationalized, and the ongoing construction of the Kitui County Aggregation and Industrial Park, now 46% complete.
Key upcoming events include the launch of the Kitui Tourism Circuit at Nzambani Rock on September 27, 2025, the Kitui Agricultural Show set for February 2026, the Kitui International Investment Conference in May 2026, and the Governor’s Cup Football Tournament by June 2026.
The retreat resolved to prioritize resources in Health, Water, and Roads, automate all county revenue streams, revitalize honey processing plants, and operationalize 40 dispensaries to ensure equitable access to health services.
Governor Malombe assured residents that the resolutions will be implemented faithfully and invited Kitui citizens to attend the Mashujaa Day Celebrations at Ithookwe Stadium on October 20, 2025, to be presided over by President William Ruto.
