Kitui County CECM for Youth and Sports, Phoebe Mutemi, on Tuesday accompanied the Principal Secretary for Livestock Development, Jonathan Mueke, in inspecting the ongoing works at the Kitui Stadium in Ithookwe. The facility is set to host this year’s Mashujaa Day celebrations.
The 10,000-seater stadium, whose construction is in high gear, has already created jobs for more than 2,000 people, with the majority being local youth. Leaders noted that the project not only stands to boost sports and talent development in the region but also promises long-term economic benefits through job creation and increased revenue for the county.
PS Mueke and CECM Mutemi reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring the stadium is completed in time for the national event, saying the works symbolize the transformative agenda being rolled out across Kitui County.
