Voo/Kyamatu MCA Hon. Zak Syengo has given a glimpse of his ambitious vision for education support in Kitui East, declaring that he is well prepared to shoulder the responsibilities of a Member of Parliament.

Speaking on Saturday , Syengo revealed that a recent assessment in Kyaango County Village showed 247 students currently enrolled in secondary schools, colleges, and universities. He extrapolated that if each of the six villages in Voo/Kyamatu ward posted similar figures, the total would amount to approximately 1,482 learners.

“Expanding that average to the entire Kitui East constituency, which has six wards, the number of students would be about 8,892,” Syengo explained.

As a financial advisor, the MCA said he had done the math on what it would take to support all these learners through bursaries. “If I gave each of the 8,892 students Kshs. 6,000 annually, that translates to Kshs. 53.4 million per financial year,” he noted.

According to Syengo, this practical approach demonstrates not only the feasibility but also the importance of investing in education. He further hinted that such a framework is part of his broader plan should he be entrusted with the leadership of Kitui East as its next MP.

“This is why I know I can serve Kitui East comfortably as a Member of Parliament — and it will be done,” he affirmed.

The remarks are likely to stir debate in Kitui East’s political circles as the constituency edges closer to the 2027 general election.
