Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti today hosted President William Ruto during a high-profile church function in Machakos, sparking heated debate over the consistency and fairness of the Wiper Party’s disciplinary policies.
Observers have questioned whether Wiper’s top leadership will summon Governor Wavinya, a senior member of the party, for appearing alongside the Head of State — a move that has previously seen other party leaders ostracized.
The controversy stems from earlier instances where elected leaders such as County Assembly Speaker Kinengo of Kitui were swiftly condemned and even branded defectors after being seen with Deputy President Kithure Kindiki.
Critics are now accusing the Wiper disciplinary committee of applying selective judgment and operating with double standards. “Why the silence today? Is the party waiting to write a summons letter to Governor Wavinya for ‘joining’ the President?” one political commentator asked.
The silence from Wiper’s top organs, including the National Executive Council and disciplinary committee, has been described by some insiders as “confusing and hypocritical.”
Grassroots supporters and some MCAs have started demanding clarity and fairness in the enforcement of party loyalty rules. Others have questioned whether the party is being run by genuine structures or merely influenced by shifting political moods — what some referred to as “onchos.”
As the party remains mum on today’s developments, political temperatures continue to rise, with calls for internal reforms and consistency growing louder within Wiper strongholds.
