Kitui County Assembly Speaker Hon. Kevin Katisya has come out strongly against the Wiper Democratic Movement–Kenya (WDM-K), accusing the party of intimidation and political harassment & being issued with a show cause letter.

Speaking during an interview on Mutongoi TV, the outspoken Speaker dismissed the letter as a political tactic aimed at silencing him, saying it holds no legal ground.

“Writing a show cause letter to me is a tactic to silence me, but I can’t buy it. As a lawyer, I know what the law says. The advocate who advised Wiper to write that letter should be sacked. He misled them,” Katisya stated.

The Speaker, who was elected with the support of MCAs from various political parties, said he owes his position to the County Assembly members — not the Wiper Party.

“Wiper did not support me during my bid for Speaker. They had their candidate, Hon. George Ndoto, but I defeated him hands down. I was elected by MCAs across different parties. They can remove me from Wiper, but they can’t remove me from being the Speaker of Kitui,” he affirmed.

Katisya further revealed that he has already been removed from the party’s WhatsApp group but insists he remains a life member, having paid a KSh 100,000 membership fee through a loan.

“I will leave Wiper when I want. I took a loan to pay 100k to be a life member. They should actually apologize to me and other loyal Wiper members who have suffered under their hands,” he added.

The Speaker’s comments come amid rising political tension within Wiper Party’s Kitui wing, following internal disagreements and factional alignments ahead of the 2027 elections.

Katisya’s firm stance signals a possible widening rift between the party and some of its elected leaders in the region.
