Kitui East Member of Parliament Nimrod Mbai has openly declared his readiness to face off with former Ambassador Kiema Kilonzo in the upcoming 2027 parliamentary elections.
Speaking over the weekend, MP Mbai expressed confidence in defending his seat, In a bold statement, Mbai noted that he has been expecting a challenge from the seasoned politician and diplomat, and is not shaken by the unfolding political dynamics.
“I have been waiting for Kiema Kilonzo. If he wants to contest, let him come. I am more than ready,” Mbai said, exuding confidence amid growing speculation over the 2027 political showdown.
Mbai further revealed that the Wiper Democratic Movement is allegedly fronting Ambassador Kiema Kilonzo to unseat him, but insisted that he is prepared for the political battle ahead.
Despite the claims, Ambassador Kiema Kilonzo has not officially declared his intention to vie for the Kitui East parliamentary seat. However, political analysts believe his entry into the race would significantly reshape the constituency’s political landscape, given his vast experience and strong influence in the region.
The political atmosphere in Kitui East is gradually heating up as residents await official declarations and manifestos from the potential contenders. The 2027 race promises to be a fierce contest, especially if Kiema Kilonzo throws his hat into the ring.
