A storm is brewing in Kitui County politics after Miambani Ward MCA Hon. Alex Nganga made a bold call for the dissolution of the Kitui County Assembly, citing what he described as a total institutional failure and betrayal of public trust.

Speaking in popular Kitui county whatsapp wall – dubbed Kitui professional chat, an online forum for who is who in Kitui, Hon. Nganga did not mince words as he accused the Assembly of operating illegally and failing in its core oversight mandate. The outspoken MCA lamented that since the Assembly resumed, key Committees—responsible for oversight and legislative functions—have not been formed due to internal political wrangles.

“Let’s be honest with the people of Kitui. We are earning from taxpayers illegally. Without committees, there’s no oversight. What exactly are we doing here?” he posed.

He further challenged citizens to demand accountability from political parties, saying the stalemate on committee formation lies squarely with party leadership.

“The people deserve to know which political party is responsible for this mess. It’s not just a leadership failure, it’s a betrayal of the public,” Nganga said.

The MCA also questioned the silence of local media, criticizing them for failing to report on the recent visit by the Senate Committee to the County Assembly—a visit that, according to him, exposed embarrassing truths about the institution’s dysfunction.

“Why is no one talking about the Senate Committee’s visit? Why is the media silent while the Assembly continues to embarrass Kitui residents?” he asked.

His remarks have stirred debate across the county, with many residents taking to social media to echo his sentiments and demand transparency.

As the political heat intensifies, all eyes are now on the County Assembly leadership and local political parties to break the impasse—or risk facing a citizen-led push for dissolution under Article 192 of the Constitution of Kenya.
