The Principal Secretary for Livestock Development, Hon. Jonathan Mueke, appeared before the National Assembly’s Departmental Committee on Agriculture and Livestock on Friday afternoon to present the 2025/26 Budget Estimates for the State Department for Livestock Development.
The session, chaired by Hon. Dr. John Mutunga, focused on key allocations aimed at strengthening the livestock sector and enhancing the livelihoods of pastoral communities across the country.
In his remarks, PS Mueke emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring the effective implementation of livestock projects and the prudent use of public resources.
> “We remain focused on strengthening the livestock sector and improving the livelihoods of our people through effective project implementation and the prudent use of public resources,” he stated.
He also extended his gratitude to the committee for its ongoing support.
> “I sincerely thank the Committee for its continued support and reaffirm our commitment to delivering on the government’s agenda,” PS Mueke added.
The budget presentation comes at a critical time as the government intensifies efforts to boost food security, climate resilience, and economic growth through targeted investments in the livestock value chain.
The Committee is expected to review the proposals and make recommendations ahead of the national budget reading scheduled for June 2025.
